cool new music service

slacker.com

the radio service is free

I think this one will get big. Today is the initial beta release and fairly basic, but the guys developing are the the guys that came up with musicmatch (bought by yahoo), winamp, etc. and have some cool shit planned

personally, I hate managing mp3s, copying them back and forth etc. I have yahoo music service subscription, which lets me play music on demand from any computer, but requires an application install and still stuck transferring mp3s to my mp3 player if I want to play music at the gym/car.

is what intrigues me about slacker is like yahoo music and others they plan to provide a premium service to get music on demand, but taking it a step further and making it available via wifi and satellite radio. no more copying mp3s back and forth to play my music in the gym/car/etc. pretty much have access to my music anywhere, awesome!

I read somewhere their premium service is going to be less than $10 a month, that's pretty good IMO to have unlimited access to music from anywhere (of course you'd have to buy the portable player too, but supposedly they are going to start at $200 for 4GB version).
