broken

well, looks like I am off the bike for about 6 weeks...

3rd lap at the grizzly harescramble, coming out of the obstacle course I came off the last roller forgetting the log obstacle that obstructed the landing. I landed square into the logs kicking the rear of the bike up and slowly went over the bars. I landed on my head in the sand like a yard dart and fell to my left shoulder. It hurt, but scrambled to pick up my bike and keep going, but when I picked the bike up I heard a crack and nearly passed out. I pretty much knew what had happened and later x-rays would verify that my collar bone broke.

The race itself was fairly gnarly... tons of mud and most the wood trails consisted of 1-2 feet deep ruts and was not the best racing since it was difficult to make passes since getting out of a rut and making a line around someone was near impossible (especially the further the race went on).

I had a good start as you can see in one of the pics to the right. That's me, #223, taking the outside line. There was only a few riders in front of me, so probably 4th or 5th into the first corner. Unfortunately going into the woods a rider went down directly in front of me with no way around and I had to wait for him to recover and it put us about mid-pack.

I hope to still ride Idaho city. I may change my class to a non-loi class.

India's tech firms hunting for help

an article discussing some of the current issues india faces training it's technology force and how basic grammar, etiquette, etc. are missed, etc. I see/experience much of what is discussed at my work place.

my latest new machine

I bought a killer new grinder. A long time overdue.

It's a Macap M4 stepless doser grinder... you can fine tune this grinder to the exact grind you need for your machine and beans.

In the first night I had it I "zeroed" it according to instructions then starting pulling shots with my Olympia Cremina adjusting the grind with each shot. Within about 4-5 shots I had it just about dialed in and producing shots like I've never seen (but known possible) from my Cremina!!! As a testament to this a really good shot is delicious unlike many novice think... a good shot has an intense nutty flavor and can be drank as it, a bad shot usually is bitter and does not taste good unless masked by milk/etc. Even sara took a sip of a straight shot and enjoyed it. Later I made her an mocha that she claims is the best she has ever had, perfect!

loving the enduros, sparkplug report

April 1st was the 50th anniversary of the sparkplug enduro. My first time racing it. It was a blast. Damn hard with more tight single-track than you wanted and a total of nearly 90 miles for the long course.

You can find my full report at my racing reports blog:

I am looking forward to the rest of the enduro season! can't wait for shelton!
